Closing Your Home

To close your home properly you need to plan much ahead of moving day. Make certain that all the utilities you are using are terminated from the day after you close your home. This helps ensure that you don’t pay for them more than you require to.

Keep all financial and important papers with you, especially the insurance papers. Don’t pack your jewellery with the rest of your belonging, but carry them with you instead.

Make sure you have packed all your belongings and check all cupboards and shelves. If you have all your things packed and marked appropriately you can make the process of moving smoother. Keep lists of all the things being loaded onto the truck.

Once your home is clear of boxes and cartons check every room to ensure that you haven’t missed anything. Also check the attic and basement. Make sure all taps are closed properly and light switches turned off.
