Set Up Your Vehicle for Shipping
Shipping a car is not just the shipping alone. You need to prepare your vehicle for the oncoming long trip. Otherwise you may end up spending time and money for the car.
Before the car gets loaded on the back of the mover’s truck just do the following. These preparations will ensure the safe shipment of your car.•Your car should be personally insured.
•Wash your car a day before it is picked up. Perform a complete inspection and make a note of the damages.
•Keep the interior clear of unwanted. Ensure nothing shifts during the transit and cause damage. Keep the weight within the limits.
•Disable the car alarm if there is one. The mover might find it difficult to deactivate it.
•Keep the gas level at the required minimum. Anything extra means extra weight.
•Secure all the special accessories - fog lights, ground effects and spoilers in your car. If you can, better remove them.
•Fold back the mirrors and retract the antenna.
•If you are shipping a convertible ensure that the top is up and secured. Seal the openings to prevent moisture from entering inside your car. If the top can’t be secured you better ship it a closed container.
•Your car should be operable during shipping. If not you may be charged more for unloading it. So check its battery level and tire pressure before shipping it.
•Is your vehicle leaking fluid? If so inform that to the mover so that he can take the necessary precaution.
•If your vehicle has any trouble and intricacy while starting and shutting off, leave a note about this in the cab for the driver.
•Get the driver’s cell phone number before shipping. In that way you could be in touch with your vehicle.
•Have a set of duplicate keys for yourself.
•As the sizes and weights of the vehicles vary the cost of their shipment also vary. So budget accordingly.
•After unloading inspect the vehicle after a thorough wash. If new damages are there you can make claims to the mover.By taking care of the above listed easy little extra things you are ensuring the successful shipment of your vehicle.
